Lankhorst Mouldings, part of Royal Lankhorst Euronete, is manufacturer of large plastic molded products with a weight range of 5 till 600 kg. Their vision is to enable customers to achieve their business goals and increase sustainability by using recycled raw materials where this is technical feasible.
One of the 7 product groups is the in-house development and manufacturing of the KLP® Hybrid Polymer Sleeper from 100% recycled material. A virtually maintenance free product and an excellent alternative for timber, concrete or steel sleepers. The KLP® Hybrid Polymer Sleepers are manufactured from a high quality, ductile plastic with steel bars encased, which provides both high strength properties as well as excellent damping characteristics. Furthermore the polymer sleepers contribute to substantial vibration and sound reduction due to the ductile material. The expected lifespan of the polymer sleepers is more than 50 years, thus represents a good investment with low Life Cycle Costs. Lankhorst has supplied hybrid polymer sleepers to several projects world wide, for example in The Netherlands, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Gabon and Malaysia.
Advantages of KLP® Hybrid Polymer Sleepers are:
- Long lifetime
- Low Life Cycle Costs
- Recycled & recyclable materials
- Excellent damping & high strength properties
- Sound & vibration reduction
- High lateral & vertical stability
- High chemical resistance
- No glass fiber dust emission during drilling
- No fumes and leaching compared with creosoted timber
Since Lankhorst produced its first plastic post through the process of intrusion in the ‘70s, many innovations have come to maturity. Today Lankhorst has their own Research and Development department capable of designing, calculating and testing products.
The plastic products are typically used in civil and construction engineering, infrastructure & railway industry, offshore oil & gas exploration, poultry industry, transport & storage systems for heavy industry and many other industrial applications.
The origins of Royal Lankhorst Euronete date back to 1803 when it was established on the exact same location in the Netherlands (Sneek) where the production facilities are still located today.
